Great-West Life Is Becoming Canada Life

As you may have heard, Great-West Life – the insurer for Life, Health and Dental for your benefits plan under ONE-T – is changing its brand to Canada Life. The new brand will launch in early 2020.

What does this mean for ONE-T members?

It’s important to understand that nothing is changing with your benefits or the way you access them. Your benefits under ONE-T will still be with Great-West Life; just under a new name. You’ll continue to submit claims the way you do now, and any Great-West Life tools or resources that you’re currently using (including your GroupNet login and call centre contact info) will stay the same.

All that’s changing is that you’ll see a new logo, and a new look and feel, on the insurer’s website, app, forms and other materials, starting in 2020.

Have questions?

Find out more on the rebranding at greatwestlife.com/welcome. For claims-related questions, call 1-866-800-8086 or visit GroupNet for Plan Members.

Benefit Coverage after Retirement - August 31, 2019 Deadline

On October 13, 2017 communication was provided to all Schedule II employees that served as notice for post-retirement benefits (see adjacent or click to download).  This is a reminder that, for Schedule II employees who elect to retire after August 31, 2019, there is no longer the provision for post-retirement benefits either through the TDSB or the provincial benefit trust. If you have any questions regarding your current benefit coverage, please contact Cowan Insurance Group at 1-888-330-4010 or via email at one-t@cowangroup.ca.

The TDSB Retirement Planning Guide and Roadmap (found on the TDSBweb at the bottom of the Benefits tab - or click here to view) also provides a listing of insurance providers who may offer benefit coverage for employees transitioning into retirement. While TDSB does not endorse or recommend any specific company, the list is intended to provide examples of companies that offer individual insurance.
